We are often asked about Certified Green Programs and if we promote them. I can say back in 2000 I was involved in the start-up Chapter of a now very large green movement in the design community and while I commend the contribution to the awaking of Energy Efficiency and its incorporation into the Design Profession, I do not hold it as our Bible for Design Philosophy. Growing up in a high humid ecosystem, and suffering with asthma my entire childhood, I know the dangers of closing up a home in order to run mechanical systems more efficiently. Furthermore, much design and codes and local building techniques in the Southern Region are based on Northern Building Strategies and mostly, result in condensation eventually in the home, unless certain full time mechanical systems are in place and proper design is executed; When design is has been loosely accounted for and projects have been compiled using separate engineered components creating a semi "sealed construction envelope", issues may arise upon installation.
Most of our consulting work in centered around Passive designs, take into account the terrain, the ecosystems currently or not currently in place. The solution results in a breathable construction system, a low energy baseline by design and a commitment by the client to incorporate certain changes in their typical lifestyle and a commitment to this process. If you are looking at this option, you will not be able to be "LEED" Certified with "ECOHUSET Design Philosophy" at this time. We can however perform and consult to create what we call a TIGHT SEALED Design Solution, which is more conducive to Commercial Construction and Design. Our Commitment to Human Health, Safety and Conservation will always override the status of energy certifications, convoluted codes, and the access to government subsidies. I encourage anyone who is building their home to look at alternatives to the cookie cutter business model of developers and large home builders if it can be afforded. We are excited about this new system from HardyGardens, Inc. The AquaTerrain : Basil or Lettuce Kits now available for purchase. This client under went an audit process and evaluation to decrease their baseline so that the combined systems would prove the most effective scenario resulting in a faster Return on Investment. We will keep you posted on the Utility Hookup, which should happen in the next 5 days, Meter Readings, and actual Savings in our Test Case Section. Congratulations for making the decision Now and turning your roof into a Profit Center! |
